Macbeth Main Ideas- Last Post and reading times

At the beginning of Macbeth we talked a lot about ambition and loyalty (or loyalty that would be shattered), anyway I decided to do a mix between ambition and loyalty because both are extremely important throughout the play as a whole.

I chose ambition as one because Macbeth had a lot of ambition to kill others to get where he wanted to be, which was on the throne as King. He killed Duncan to become king, but soon realized that Banquo's kids would have the throne there after him, so his craziness decided to kill Banquo, his best friend, and Macduff's family. He had such a strong ambition to become king, he did the worst things that would come to anyone's mind. Soon after he killed Banquo, Banquo's ghost started stalking him around and freaking him out a lot, Macbeth becomes paranoid and when he starts talking about things like his killings he's unable to stop and Lady Macbeth tries to get him to calm down.

Secondly, I think loyalty is just as important as ambition because Macbeth put a lot of trust into people and they put it into him as well, as time went on people couldn't trust Macbeth as much. Macbeth has a lot to over come and I think Lady Macbeth is very loyal towards Macbeth through all his struggles he goes through. I feel like when Macbeth thought that people were finally understanding that it was Macbeth that was killing the people around him, they got a little worried and concerned, making them not trust him anymore.

Quotation and Reading Times

At the very beginning of the play on the first page, the witches were all together and they were being super creepy and chanting "fair is foul, and foul is fair," I think this means that something always has something else to it, like there is always a second story to every story. I also think that the witches are foreshadowing that bad things happen to good people, like Banquo, a nice generous friend of Macbeth, but Macbeth finds him as a threat so he kills him. So when it says "fair is foul," I think it means that if something is fair to someone it could be the complete opposite than everyone else thinks.

Free Post: Holocaust Memorial Service and Such.

I know I have a lot of blogs on my religion, World War II, and the Holocaust, but I think it is something everyone should know about and be aware of so that it never happens again.

April 27th and 28th, 2014, the days to remember everyone who perished during the Holocaust. The Holocaust was an awful time for the Jewish people and population. Six million Jews were killed. If you really think about the number 6 million, it's a lot of people, a lot of innocent people that deserved to live. What Hitler did to all of those innocent people should be unspoken of, but people need to realize what he did and take charge to make sure this never ever happens again. It's very difficult for teens like me who are very invested in their religion to ponder every day what life would be like if there were more Jewish kids or people in the world. Would things be different? How different? It's a daily struggle to know that my ancestors had to go through so much hardship, yet the people sitting next to me have the struggle of not getting a signal on their new iPhone or smart phones. I think it is ridiculous how spoiled our generation is and they should be happy they have the life that they do.

Another problem I have with this is that some people are so ignorant that they don't even know what the Holocaust is. I personally think that schools in there Social Studies and World History classes should be a big part of their learning because it is a very important part of our worlds' history. It's a little scary when the Holocaust comes up, but someone that is in the same grade as you doesn't know what it is. Especially if someone doesn't know you're Jewish and they start talking about Jewish people and their opinions, who knows they'll start calling you names and make you feel uncomfortable like you are unwanted or start bullying you because of what you believe. Everyone needs to be educated on this matter, G-d forbid it happening ever again.

Spring Break and Reading Times

I have to say spring break went exceptionally well. The Thursday we got out I was picked up from school about an hour early by my parents and my best friend from camp, Sarah. I was so excited to see her because it had been awhile since I had seen her last because she lives in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The week before my family and I decided that we would go to Destin, Florida because we go there every year and the water is always really pretty. We finally get to the beach/condo around 9:30 and we went straight up to our rooms to get settled. The next day we couldn't go outside because it was raining and really gross outside, so Sarah and I just watched Scared Out of Your Mind, all day. 

The last day we were there was the only time we actually got to go to the beach. It was absolutely gorgeous. I was with the people I love on the beach. Life couldn't get better. We would play beach volleyball with a few guys we met; which made it so much more fun! So Sarah and I decided to go to the pool, for about 20 minutes to cool off. My family started walking back to the condo, but they had to pass us in the pool before they could get inside and yelled to us that they were going to get lunch and to start heading up if we wanted lunch, so of course we did. Turns out Sarah and I were burned to a crisp. It was awful walking around, but it was only on the front side of us so we were able to sit down, luckily. All in all, it was such an awesome trip and I can't wait until this summer with her!

"Some things are destined or fated to happen"
Personally I strongly agree because somethings happy for a reason whether you wanted them to or not. If you have a really good friend and one day he/she decides to not talk to you ever again then you need to realize that not everyone will be your friend and maybe you should try to hang out with new people that make you happy and make you feel wanted rather than crappy and unwanted. Everything has a reason to happen whether people like to hear that or not because not everything can go the way you want it to go.

I really like this, therefore I strongly agree with it because it's beyond true. No matter how many times you tell someone that you won't do something, somehow it ends up happening and in some cases you can really help it because no one is perfect. Things happen for a reason if someone were to lie to you more than once I doubt anyone would believe them or at least I wouldn't. No matter how many times someone you love says they won't hurt you... the next thing you know they are stabbing you right in the back. Betrayal goes along with everything because if you lie to someone you're breaking your trust, which it all comes back to betraying someone.

Explanation: The rhyme skeam is A,B,C, B, D, E, F, E, G, H, I, H, J, K, L, K.
also there is simbliance, and I think there is a little personification because you can't technically up someone's feelings.

"Love" by Mos Def

The singer/songwriter Mos Def uses different ways to show different things in “Love.” I first saw the use of enjambents, end stop lines, and rhyme. He also used an apostrophes to express love e uses these to make the feel for the song. The other thing I noticed was that he used personification to giving love different human characteristics. An oxymoron stood out to me as an important part of "Love". The last thing I noticed were that many anaphoras are in the song as well.

       The three techniques effects the rhythm or feel in the song. Most songs have a good beat to them making them so popular. He creates a very nice beat with those techniques. Most songwriters don't do this but, he personifies love and confronts love like it is a person, although it is only an emotion. Personally, I think Def does this to show how much the emotional feel of love can really do to one person. The last technique that I saw that effected the song was an oxymoron. This oxymoron is used to explain if he should go out or stay home, so it's intriguing, but on the other hand difficult.

Research Paper Draft

I think my confident part of my paper is the content of the main experiments like what Dr. Mengele did to the twins and the dwarf family. I had some really informational websites. I feel like is was easy in the way of finding websites and making annotations and notecards on them, but then I think it's hard because when I was writing my paper it was difficult trying to find websites that went together and would make sense if i put some information from one website with another.

I have a question. If I used a website, but I didn't make an annotation on it should I make an annotation on it so that I can put it in my works cited? I'm scared that I plagiarized something, but I don't think I did. I think that's the only thing I was really worried about, other than just not thinking it was long enough. I think I would like help changing my wording and the work cited like, if I should make an annotation or not. I think you should focus on the context of the writing and if the quotations I used are properly placed.

Work times:

Writing my paper, I used some new websites that were more informational. I spent about three hours writing the paper and doing more research.
About two hours reading our class book and finished it.

Sneaux Week Free: Relearning my Torah Portion

Being Jewish and a teenager comes with it's ups and downs. When I was 12 years old, it was time to start leaning my Torah portion for my Bat Mitzvah. Although that doesn't seem like much, it's a completely different language, a whole new alphabet to learn. Luckily, I had been going to Hebrew school every Sunday and Wednesday's when I was coming up to my bat mitzvah. Once I picked out my date and read over my portion in english, I really like it. It talked a lot about the Eternal Lamp, what priests wore, and how the temples were built back in the day. It really interested me, but the worst was having to sing it in front of all my family, friends, and the whole congregation. I was able to learn it in a six week period with a tutor everyday after school. Three years later, I'm again having to learn it again.

This coming up Saturday, I will be reading the first three verses in the portion T'tzaveh or Exodus. I'm really excited about it, yet really nervous because I don't to mess up. It's such a huge responsibility and honor to even be able to read out of the Torah. Having to relearn it will be very difficult yet bringing back memories from when I had an awesome and hilarious tutor to teach me three years ago, and I'm hoping he will be there.

Over these last couple of weeks I have accomplished to narrow my topic down even more an make it about what Dr. Josef Mengele experiments were like in the Auschwitz concentration camp. I've been looking up more about these experiments and who were involved in them. Also been looking further into the medical treatments and terrible experiments.

My topic is about the experiments conducted by Dr. Josef Mengele and his Jewish medical assistants. Auschwitz was one of the main concentration camps because it was so much larger than all the other camps. Mengele was one of the main scientist or doctors to conduct any medical experiment, from dwarfs to twins. Most of the experiments he conducted were very brutal and painful. Mengele interested me because his experiments were just down right cruel and I wanted to know more about why and what his did to those innocent people.

Research, research, and more research

I am researching the rights and responsibilities of the Jewish people during the Holocaust. I personally think we should care about my topic because if we just forget about it and doing keep telling the stories and making people aware of what happened, then who knows what might happen. Could it happen again? We, as a Jewish community, don't want it to ever happen again, but we want our generation of kids to know what happened and what it can do to people. The fact that I can research something that is in my own religion's past, and learn in a deeper meaning because looking up the rights, which we don't talk about much because there wasn't many rights. Anyway, I just want people to understand and realize how awful this was and to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Would you go to school?

If a child had the choice to go to school, I think there would be a lot of poverty in the world. If you don't get a education you won't be able to get a well paying job to support yourself and possibly your family. Honestly, going to school sucks, but it will all pay off in the end. There is also the factor of people not being able to pay for school, so that their family would have enough money to get by. I think it depends on your home problems and money.

I think I would go to school. Most kids my age would say no right of the bat, but I want to be able to support myself and my family when it comes the time when they can't. I want to be a physical therapist, therefore you have to go to school and get a great education other wise you wont get into college and then it all goes down from there. So, yes, I would go to school and get my education.

Day in the life

Well, a day in the life of Alyssa Lauren Winkler. Monday through Friday, I get up at 5:20 to shower. Then I get dressed for the school day, then I wait until the bus gets to my house which is about 6:30. We drive all over picking up kids for school, I'm on the bus for about an hour and a half. When we finally reach school at about 7:25ish. Of course, 7:45 bell comes around and it's time for class. I sit through all my classes and get out of school at 3:20. I go to my bus and when it's time to leave I sit on the bus for another hour and a half or so, and wait until I get home. I get home, let my dogs out, get something to eat and start homework. Once I finish homework, I take a shower and get ready for bed. I go to sleep around 9:30-10:00 and start the cycle all over again.

On the weekends, I do whatever I want or whatever my mom tells me. I also do homework, go to conformation class at temple, and hang out with my family and friends.

Writing center learning

Going to the writing center was probably one of the best choices for the last paper. Although I thought my paper was perfect and nothing more could have been done, there were a lot of things I needed to fix. Having someone who is trained to read over papers to make them better makes me more comfortable with them reading and giving feed back other than someone else. Also I like that Christiane gave positive feedback rather than someone else saying that my paper is awful.

It also gave me a chance to have a second look at my paper. Christiane was not only helpful, she was relatable. She told me my paper was very good, but just fix a few things. She is relatable because she told me that she likes to be personal with the reader as well do I. So those are just a few things that connected us.

Free post, How did you become Jewish?

So, I get asked the question "How did you become Jewish?" 

My answer is pretty long so I would normally ask them if they have time to listen to the story because it's a long, but interesting story, especially if you don't know my family. 

My mom is one out of sixteen kids and my dad is an only child and so when they got married they decided to raise me and my two older sisters Jewish. Reason being that there aren't many Jewish people in the world and a bunch of Christians in the world. So it isn't a matter of that I became Jewish, it's more of a tradition thing because my mom had such a large family and my dad didn't. I love being Jewish because I get interviewed a lot. It's a lot of fun, but sometimes it gets out of hand, but that's another free post. (:

What's your favorite Disney movie and why?

I have loved and alway love the movie Nemo. I'm not really sure why I love the movie, but I love the fact that sea animals are talking. It's the funniest thing to me. Nemo kind of reminds me of kids in general, like in the beginning, by not wanting to get up for school, once he gets to his first day of school for his dad to leave him alone. The one sad part about this movie is in the early beginning when Nemo's mom was looking at all the first eggs the first time, and she looks out in the blue ocean and sees a huge shark and tries to protect her eggs. She and most of her fish eggs get killed except one.

Nemo was probably the most entertaining child movie I've watched in my life time. It shows us what life is like, but in the form of fish.
